Firmware
The firmware on your Screenblock can be updated from your PC computer using a COM port and Modem cable to connect to the Screenblock.  The current firmware version of your Screenblock can be seen by removing the cover and turning the power on and off.  The first number to scroll across the display is the firmware number (E.g. 2000-020 means firmware version 2000, hardware version 020). If your hardware version is below 020, the unit cannot be updated on site and should be returned to us for upgrading.   If your hardware version is 020 and above, then your Screenblock can be upgraded at home:
To update the firmware
1. Download Software updater version 3.0 and install on PC by double clicking the downloaded icon. If you've done this before- no need to repeat.
2. Download Firmware version 2001 and install on PC by double clicking the downloaded icon.
3. Connect your PC to the Screenblock with the Modem cable and any COM port (COM1 & COM2 preferred).
4. Connect power to the Screenblock.
5. Launch Start, Programs, Screenblock, 'Software Updater 3.0' and follow the instructions.

Log viewer- academic tool
Log viewer is a program that connects Screenblock to a PC and allows the user to view and clear Screenblock's internal logs.  All Screenblocks automatically record when the TV is being watched and how many hours it is being watched.  Log viewer allows a researcher to read this data and clear the log. In addition, a memory scratch pad is provided so that the subject and conditions of each test subject may be entered and downloaded to the individual Screenblocks.
Log viewer is a 3mb file and will take about 10 minutes to download using a 56k modem.  It is a single self-installing file and once downloaded, just double click on it and the program will be installed on your PC.  As the software is free, we don't officially support it but if you encounter problems, please do email us at tech@screenblock.com.  We regret that this software may only be used on a PC; we don't have a Macintosh version.
